n the village of Chung Thnal, close by Siem Reap, we are welcomed in the house of Yoeum Phor. She is a widow of 76 years old. She lives by herself in a wooden house with a garden around where she keeps some chickens. A lot of people and children are in her garden, and talk with her and us. She tells us that she has been living alone, because her children moved away and visit her yearly. She goes to the pagoda, and in her house are pictures of her as ‘obesaka’, and together with a monk. She has no steady income, but earns some money by raising chickens and selling them. She lives by herself, and also takes care for herself. Sometimes her granddaughter comes to sleep at her house.
