Brazil

Brazil is a country where family plays an important role. Family members spend a lot of time together and depend a lot on each other. Children have great respect for their parents, meaning that the elderly are also  a respectable and appreciable age group. It is important to show respect and compassion to the elderly, because it is common in the Brazilian culture to relate the elderly to experience, maturity and wisdom.
However,  the elderly care is also frequently seen as a burden, because they are no longer a part the labor market and must be cared for by family or by state social resources.
